Green Building

1stPOSS Services

According to the EPA “Green Building’ is the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building’s life cycle from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation and deconstruction. While being designed, constructed, and operated, green building reduces the negative impacts and generate positive impacts on our climate and natural environment. The well-being of the occupants of ‘green building’ are improved as well as the operating costs associated with the building, there is an improvement in the indoor air quality as well.

Green Building

During design and construction ‘green building’ processes requires well-sealed duct systems, bathroom and kitchen exhaust fans, sealed combustion gas appliances, a balanced pressure ventilation system, so that indoor air quality will be improved, while keeping occupants comfortable and healthy. Altogether, one of the major keys to reducing building-related emissions and improvement in our communities and the urban environment in the midst of our current ‘climate change’ is to build more ‘green and environmentally friendly buildings. Eco-friendly building use unique construction techniques and sustainable materials makes it possible for us to meet the needs of our present while at the same time not depleting resources and endangering the environment for future generations.

Scope of Work

Some of the things that are achievable with building green in a whole-system approach is:

Ø Daylighting, using the sun and the site of the building to take advantage of the for natural heating and cooling.

Ø The use of locally sourced and produced sustainable building materials that are recycled, low-emitting or rapidly renewable.

Ø Fixtures and technologies such as using energy-efficient and water-saving appliances are a necessity for a green building.

Ø Conventional building and green building both can be constructed today at comparable prices.

Ø Green building occupants enjoy many health benefits due to the safety of materials use in the Construction and the use of “Green Seal Certified” cleaning products. Green Seal Certification ensures that a product meets rigorous, science-based standards and they are just as effective and affordable, and they continue to the health and safety of the ‘green environment’.
